What ar the challenges to implementing ISO 14001?

Green Living Project Design ISO 14001 RegistrarWhen you implement the ISO 14001 standard and create an Environmental Management System (EMS), you will see opportunities to improve profitability, reduce risks of law suits and improve your marketing position to being "green."

Progress not Perfection - when you begin implementing, consider it as a continual process for improvement.  And with all human endeavors, it is an ongoing cycle of finding problems then fixing them.

The most important step for your EMS is creating goals.  They should be achievalble, and affordable, while laying the groundwork for expansion.  You set your goals in the framework of the ISO 14001:2015 standard.  This standard will show you how to structure the EMS reporting.  It is now what you should do, but how you report it and manage the process.  Make sure your goals have an economic component so you can measure the return on investment.

NOTE: Contact your ISO 14001 Registrar at the beginning of the process.  Many of ASR's prospective clients contact us on the goal setting and the how-to phase of implementation.  Because ASR is a ISO 14001 registrar, we can give guidance.

EMS in plain English - be sure your Environmental Management System is understandable at all levels of the organization.  There will be needed some statistical analysis needed to measure certain processes, but be sure to detail how these metrics apply to your goals.
