What Does Your Website Say About Your Quality System?

Your organization's web site has information that is important to your QMS. It might be advertising (communications media) your firm's capabilities and should reflect the current operating status and scope statement found on your registration certificate.

The American National Accreditation Board (ANAB) governs USA registration bodies and they have mandated certain requirements for client communications material. ANAB's objective is to ensure certificate holders don't promote a service such as design when the organization's certificate scope does not reflect that activity.

As an example – ASR auditors have found conflicting issues when they have visited client websites in recent years:

  1. Claiming design on the website, but excluding design in the firm's scope statement.
  2. Setting a link to the firm's registration certificate, but not keeping it current or using an obsolete ANAB symbol.
  3. Using the ASR logo or the ANAB logo separately, but not together.
  4. Additional sites listed inferring that they are part of the certificate, but not audited.
  5. Listing of processes that are not present or used.
  6. Capabilities not demonstrated but claimed.

ANAB is requiring certification bodies to ensue client organizations..."Conform to the requirements of the certification body when making reference to its certification in communications media such as the internet, brochures or advertising, or other documents."
As part of the audit preparation process, ASR auditors are reviewing client websites prior to the audit and communicating any issues that need adjustment. During the audit, your auditor will also review sales related material.

If you have questions regarding the reference of your certificate as it relates to communication media, please contact ASR (888-891-9002) and ask for Karl Dorr or Tom Droog.
