Word Cloud Lean ManufacturingSomething to Think About

By Rand Winters
ASR Senior Auditor

In recent years, a number of ASR clients have started lean manufacturing programs without considering a full blown 5S program. A prime segment of 5S is the organization of the work place – key to starting a quick tooling change program or reconfiguring the work flow.

Sort, store, shine, standardize and sustain (5S) is a lean process that can bring order and efficiency, and lead to a top performing work environment that is clean and safe.

Many articles have been written about 5S, but one of my recommendations is the article Dig Deeper found in the August 2013 edition of Quality Progress.

5S is a huge undertaking for an organization, but certainly worth the effort. Something to think about!
