All ISO 9001:2008 QMS certificates expire September 15, 2018. This is the result of the September 15, 2015 publication of ISO 9001:2015. As a result, client transition to ISO 9001:2015 is NO LATER than September 15, 2018. This gives clients 3 years to transition their system.

All certificates issued to ISO 9001:2008 after September 15, 2015 will expire on September 15, 2018. Once an upgrade audit has occurred the expiration date will be modified to reflect a three year certificate.

American Systems Registrar (ASR) plans to begin conducting audits to ISO 9001:2015 in January of 2016.

ASR will recommend that clients transition to ISO 9001:2015 at their recertification audit if possible. Clients that transition at recertification time will not incur additional audit time. Clients may choose to transition at a surveillance audit or at a special audit at any time during the audit cycle. Additional audit time will be required to cover the review of changes to the quality management system. The additional time would be dependent on the size of the organization.

ASR is preparing an online course outlining the changes and challenges to revising an organization's existing ISO 9001quality management system. The course is expected to be posted on the ASR website in November. ASR will notify the availability of the course via our e-newsletters.
